Do people really think we can't land a DC and people are actually scared about landing a good DC? I mean good grief I've read in the zoo and on premium that people are concerned and I don't get it.

Jimbo didn't decide he was coming to A&M the week he signed the deal. It was a deal in principle already verbally agreed on. The DC has apparently already told his AD and Head coach he is leaving. Sometimes contracts get in the way of signing but verbal agreements can still be had. Stop worrying. Seems like we don't want to go through the Chavis contract fiasco again.

It would be a solid hire.

Instead of hiring a DC, maybe we could hire Mazzone as OC of each team we play, on a week to week contract.

We'd save money and our defense would be lights out.

My buddy has an "in" to Wade Phillips.

I hear he's pretty good.

How in the heck do we expect to recruit top defense players without announcing who the DC is?

Ok, let's start by breaking down some of these candidates.

Super Man: Obviously he's the top choice. His defense would be fast, strong, and virtually unbeatable.

Bat Man: a good second option. He'd be a big name hire, but he's already making like $1,000,000,000/year from Wayne Enterprises so I don't think we could match their offer.

Green Lantern: not as big of a name as Super Man or Bat Man, but he's already got a ring, so he's a proven winner.

The Flash: he's more of an offensive coach, but could obviously coach speed.

Aquaman: he can recruit the hell out of Florida, so that would be a plus.

Those are just my top 5.

I don't know what it's like now, but, when I was a kid, DC comics were awful. Marvel was head and shoulders better...

Considering we lost 1 player and the DC would have only had a week to recruit I would say it's a wash...

We're in dead period so at this point it doesn't really matter correct? At this point Jimbo may have told the recruits that the new DC will announce after his bowl game and as each day/bowl passes the anticipation builds as only the top DCs are left on the board.

Let's just suppose for a minute that Jimbo's Plans A & B fell through, and we're now competing with several schools for a less-than-ideal DC candidate...

Wouldn't it just be better to keep Chavis and see how things go? If things don't improve then fine, but it seems a lot smarter than bringing in a new DC who's not your top choice.

I totally get the anxiety y'all feel about the lack of an announcement. It'd sure help in recruiting right now and we gotta begin reassembling this team for 2018.


BUT. I'm CHOOSING to see this as a good omen.

The lack of a hire means our fella is still coaching ball in January.

Which means he's in one of the BETTER bowls so he performs well and at a high tier.

And the silence means he is completely mentally and emotionally present on the job at hand so there's an indictment of his power of focus and self-control.

It also hints at dedication to see things through and that the relationships he's fostered with his players are strong AND meaningful.

From that point of view I'm pleased with the delayed release in a name.

Here's how I see it:

The Audi R8 LMS is a proven winner in GT3 cicuts worldwide. But I'd gladly bide my time for a years with a Ferrari 488 GTE Le Mans class even if it means losing a recruit or 2.

He says with being in the first year of jimbo's 10 year deal we have the most stable situation in college football for an assistant

He also says dc's know how much we wrte paying Chavis so that's another very attractive aspect
