In all fairness, there has been a long history of the Ags and LSU competing. Unfortunately a "rivalry" in the SEC hasn't materialized because Sumlin's lost EVERY game.

Texas is our rival both naturally (in state, oldest schools) and on the field (how long game has been played, even series accounting for no females before 70s and world wars when the men at our university fought for the country) and institutionally (bonfire, fight song - theirs and ours). Too bad too many dont want the game played anymore.

It's hardly fabricated. In one sense or another, A&M has an extremely long list of rivalries:

Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Arkansas
LSU

Those are just the most heated, and they're in varying degrees across various sports. The A&M-LSU series goes back to 1906, long before even Dana Bible and the Southwest Conference, but it's been off and on, just like the Arkansas series; it's one of the longest-running series of A&M's, in fact. If you don't think it's a rivalry, go talk to some uneducated swamp kitties and see how cordial the discourse is. They will threaten to murder you, they hate Aggies so much.

Hell, we even got nicknames for them like everyone else in the SEC. It might not be a real hot one yet, but LSU is our new conference rival.

Christians vs. lions

There is no A&M rivalry to most LSU fans. The game means no more than the Mississippi State game to the Tigers. LSU fans care much more about winning against Bama, Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, & Arkansas (in that order).
