Loved this movie when it first came out. Based on a true story....Wrong. Do some reading. The head coach was a total jerk according to many players. They had been integrated for years and as a result of the merger of 4 schools they were the biggest school in the state. Can anyone tell the truth anymore

The head coach of the opposing team in the state championship is a Hall of Famer. With seconds left in the game he looks shocked and yells "They are throwing deep!" Then gets beat on a reverse and a 60 or more yard run. Where was the football technical advisor the day that was filmed!

If I remember correctly in real life it wasn't even the championship game that was close. It was the semifinal game that they barely won, and they smoked whatever team they played in the finals.
Yeah, You are right. I was just joking how a coach is surprised that on the last play from 60 or so yards out that they were throwing deep. Or how you can run a reverse from that position and score. L.B.
