9 months ago he was competing with Dak for QB2. Now, transitioning to Special Teams and Safety.... At least he has the right attitude...


More "C-list" NFL players need to be like Jameill. This man definitely represents Texas A&M and UTEP really well.

Showers transferred to UTEP. I remember him blowing up a KU guy after a RB fumble on Kyle Field. I will always regard him as one of our own

What don't you get? The Cowboys felt like they gave him an opportunity at QB and they like him athletically, so he is given an opportunity at another position.

Maybe he's just a good guy that the Cowboys want to keep around, and he's willing to do whatever they need. He's not likely to get on the field as a QB, so if he's any more likely to play as a safety, good for him!

Sounds like a win-win to me

1. Stay at QB and get cut
2. Try at Safety and stick in an NFL roster another year, possibly more

May or may not have more success, but another year in the NFL is another year in the NFL.

He has already played a little on special teams. This move will help him be better at that in addition to any possibility of playing time on defense. Even if he's only depth at safety, a good special teams player is valued in the NFL.

How common is it to do something like this in the pros? College I get, but even that seems a little rare (like BWill). Maybe I just don't pay attention to stories about people further down the depth chart, but this still seems like a testament to him that they would even try it.

Matt Jones, Hines Ward, Kordell Stewart, Bert Emmanel, Antwaan Randle El...usually it's a move from QB to receiver. But Hines Ward would have been a good safety, imo.

It's because of his attitude Showers has gotten this far. He has absorbed disappointments gracefully and turned them into positives.

After football that attitude is going to help him achieve things he probably hasn't had cause to think of yet.

Showers has earned many fans and many well-wishers.

When people respect and like you . . . those are two powerful things.
