This. Seriously, HSB is like 15-20 minutes from the Hill Country Galleria.

For the record, HSB is my vote, too - though I am now seriously considering the Thornton Mellon-suite idea.

After Black Friday moved to Costa Rica bought a small condo , kept "working" and banking profits , boughtn6 more rental properties and am now back in the states " semi retired " in College Station / Vegas / W palm beach

Estes park? Have you guys been there in the winter there is not a lot to do and I know since my family has a 3000 Sq foot house on an acre up on Strong avenue. It's nice in the summer but fall and winter everything shuts down and Eldora is the closest ski resort.

To each their own. I prefer the I 10 corridor to the hill country and that means Kerrville, Fredericksburg, Boerne, Bandera, Mountain Home, etc. HSB is ok but not for me.
Visited there, played mucho golf. Ok but not as a retirement spot. Too remote and taxes our too high.
