Bo is one of the few athletes to be named an All-Star in two major sports

Johnny was good but he did not do that. That is not putting Johnny down.

Meant as comparison to Johnny as a National Celebrity. That guy was everywhere. Tebowmania was still one of my favorite memories as a sports fan

There is no consensus that manziel is 2 or even top 5. The debate starts after Jackson and an argument can be made that JFF is not even top 5. Try to leave your bias at the door.

Are you just counting college? Then Bo's all stars don't matter.

If counting pro careers also, manziel not even in the conversation for top stars

Trippi was real old too. He played back in 1948. He is 96 now.l

You will never argue any point with me that our boy Johnny is not far and away #1. The numbers alone prove it. Much less the circumstance against him.

Herschel had over 5200 rushing yards in only 33 games (10 regular season games per year back then) plus 1 bowl game per year. He carried UGA to 1980 National Championship as a freshman, in Championship game Georgia only completed 1 pass, every play was Herschel left or right. Bo and Johnny never led their teams to national title.

Johnny had half that in 26, on top of 7000 passing yards. He had almost twice as many touchdowns in 7 less games. Comparing stats can only lead one to conclude that Johnny is absolutely the better player.

What circumstances against him?

Herschel freshman year he got third in heisman voting. Behind an eventual two-time Super Bowl champ and overall number one pick in the draft and the overall 7th pick. Manti needed a made-up girlfriend to have anybody of interest be considered in the heisman voting manziel a fr yr. And he didn't even get picked in the first round of draft. Herschel was in top three three years in a row (behind Marcus Allen and then beating Eric Dickerson and John elway.
What Johnny did was spectacular but I'd think Herschel would get the nod over others for overall star. Of course I didn't look at some of the others (who may be just as impressive as walker)

Hershel played in 2 National Championship games (Won 1), and lost 3 games in 3 years, Johnny lost 6 in 2 years and never played in a top tier bowl game.
