Is going to be the OC at KU. Didn't we pursue him before Mazzone? Why would he make such a lackluster lateral move instead of coming here?
Why haven't we pursued Meacham, Dykes or Bob Stitt?

He overplayed his hand and went from Boykin (31 TD, 10 INT) to The Trill (17 TD, 13 INT). Now, he is relegated to upgrade from Co-OC in a hotbed state (Tx) in a modern city (FW), to OC of a 2-10 team in Kansas, which relies mostly on JuCo\CoCol players.

Kansas has won five (5) BDF games in the past 8 years.

Texags wanted to play GM and hire him, but I don't believe he was ever pursued by the current staff.

I like how in the same breath you assumed that we pursued him and then asked why we didn't pursue him. Vintage texags

This. Just be a useful Texags wants something it doesn't make it true.

The air raid is not a sustainable and successful offense in the SEC without a Johnny-like QB. Even then, with a QB similar to Johnny, the adaptations the SEC has made to the spread in general (especially Bama) make this style of offense less effective in this conference. You HAVE to be able to run the ball successfully to have success in this conference, whether it is out of the spread or not, and Meacham is not a guy who would've been able to do that as effectively as Mazzone did this year. I think the match of Mazzone and Turner did wonders for our run game this year (albeit including the QB run), but it just made no sense when Mazzone would abandon the run when it worked so successfully, especially against K-state.

Hahahaha!!

The zoo wanted a guy that couldn't hack it at TCU and was shipped off to Kansas.

This is a perfect example of why this board is pure entertainment.

And Patterson thought they needed to run the damn ball more... Zoo would have loved Meacham.

TCU rushed for 200 fewer yards (15 ypg fewer than A&M), and had 2 more rushing TD's than A&M had this year.

They were ranked only 12 spots lower on overall rushing offense.

From perusing KillerFrogs board, Patterson was switching to Cumbie as the play-caller among the two OCs. Cumbie is the QB coach and Meacham was WR coach but Meacham was the play caller. So Meacham left instead of being essentially demoted.

Have to wonder what Kenny Hill's role was (if any) in that decision by Patterson. One thing we know is that having the QB coach as playcaller didn't help Kenny that much during his tenure here.

Why would he come here ?....
To get a year of play calling to try and save Sumlin's arse ?
At KU if he is over 500 it's a accomplishment leading in the right direction
At A&M unless he produces a SEC contending, winning product, (in spite of Sumlin) .... he has failed miserably
NEXT YEAR IS HERE.......again

I knew someone would bring this up. That was done in the absolutely ***tty big 12.

If we got him, that would make two coaches with really weird hair situations going.

Dykes to TCU. That helps provide a little more context.

Looks like this was a "make room for the new guy" decision.
