Supposedly the topic came up on his call in show last night. Does anyone know what was said?

He said that's he's heard the show before, and that while some of the stuff is humorous other things are said in poor taste. Also said that it's unfair to impersonate someone on the radio because it may confuse listeners that have just switched to that station into thinking that it's the real Slocum- at least on tv you can see that the impersonator is not the real guy.

The keywords I picked up from his criticism of "Coach Slocum on a mobile" were "poor taste" and "off color."

He didn't mention any specifics, but I suspect he was pointing to the comments about humping it and Lubbock goal posts being a dangerous combination. I think those also made some snide remarks aabout sorority girls. He was probably also not pleased about "My ass hasn't felt like that since I fell bacward into the *****ly pear," after the Tech game.

"Coach Slocum on a mobile" is a funny characature of our coach IMO, but I can understand if Slocum takes offense at some of the junior high potty humor.

Has Sports Radio 610 ever offered to have RC on the show?

They're the horn flagship in Houston. Don't count on it.

I am pretty sure if Slocum approached them about wanting to have a segment, they would be willing. Nick Saban has his own segment, I am sure they would love to talk for 10 minutes with him instead of taking calls.

Who cares, he is hilarious. And don't know that 610 is the horns station. Not on the talk shows at least. I have heard them say good and bad things aboout the Ags and sips. Houston is a big Aggie town.

They have offered RC and he doesn't want to do it. That is partly the reason we have Slocum on a mobile, as RC will not do it.

It has nothing to do with 610 being the t.u. flagship. Even after signing day when they have all the coaches come on to discuss their class, RC doesn't even do that. Cassidy has filled in instead.

The sips think the station is theirs. They receive very favorable treatment on the station, but for the most part so do the Ags. These are only one or two guys on there that speak down about the Ags but for the most part it is fair. I preferred the station when Dan Patrick ran it cause he tried to keep it pretty much open for all teams only draw back was he seemed to favor the cougars

If that is a fair approximation of what he said, I am embarassed for him (Road Coach). Yes, the guy sounds 90% like him, but it is so obviously a parody that the real Slocum's umbrage-taking over this speaks volumes about him and not 610 or the act.

i think its funny, and he may have a problem becasue some of the jokes, while in humor, contain some truth.

though i do understand his beef that maybe people will mistakenly think its him and not a parody.

ah well, i still listen over the internet at work sometimes, but am not really that loyal of a listener.

Does he not realize that an imitators job is to poke fun and this sometimes results in off color and poor taste? If this wasn't the case, Saturday Night Live would have been off the air years ago because it would be so dull.

I don't why he should be upset, the guys on the show make it very clear that it's not actually Slocum and only an idiot that doesn't pay attention would think that.

My neighbor thought Slocum on a Mobile was the actual coach. He just couldn't understand why the coach would get on the radio and joke around like that. I filled him in and then he thought it was funny.

Let's ask a question. What if the parody was being done on you!?! Sounds to me that RC's response is very generous! His points are hard to argue with. The 'off color' humor is not a good representation of him or Texas A&M. He showed a pretty thick skin to this stuff. What is he supposed to say, "Oh yea, I listen and thanks it's great, especially all that crude stuff!" Come on guys, geez!

Now let's ask another question. You're a high school football player from the Houston area being recruited by Texas A&M who happens to be head coached by RC Slocum. You know that this head coach is the butt of some parody talk show jokes on a major radio station!

Now RC is sitting across the table from this young man and he is lauging inside because of the 'Slocum on a mobile program'. He is not hearing the real RC Slocum, he is equating him to the padody RC Slocum. I'm sorry the show, though having it's humourous side, which RC pointed out, is not an overal positive representation of A&M or RC and in fact is negative.

I have been the butt of many jokes in my life and a lot of times for being an Aggie. I can laugh at most, but when they get personal and mean spirited, I'll ignore them for a while, and than ask them to stop and then pull a Jim Everett on Rome! These press jerks think they can just do what ever they want and if any one responds they start squealing like a stuck pig, "What did I do, I'm so offended, what outrageous behavior!"

The show is irresponsible and Ags should call in and ask that the off color stuff be removed! It's an afront to our university and our football program. I know, some of you guys will say lighten up! Well I can laugh at a good joke, I can laugh at myself but to constantly get a laugh at someone elses expense is a bit sick and yes SNL is mostly sick jr high, high school humor, and some guys need to grow up out of it!

What has led us to this point? RC on a Mobile being on KILT 610.

1. Slocum not wanting to be interviewed on a regular basis on KILT 610?

2. Slocum's much too conservative approach to offense.

3. Slocum having to change offensive coordinators on a regular basis.

4. Slocum's teams losing big games because of the lack of offense or trying to pull in heels with a lead.

and the list goes on and on.

Notice the keyword here. Slocum!

RC on a Mobile exists because of a perception of himself that RC is solely responsible for.

IF he doesn't like it then quit complaining about it and do something to change that perception.

Heck wasn't it Blinebury or Solomon the other day that made the comment that Mack Brown has become RC-like in his approach to game stratedgy or something along those lines. It wasn't meant as a compliment that's for sure.

Do something to change that perception and you won't have to worry about sitting across from a recruit that confuses you with someone he heard on a radio station. Good Grief. That is part of our problem here.

You know what, there might just be a Mack on a Mobile in the near future.

What did Everett do to Rome?

RC actually addressed this recently at Chalk Talk (a Coach's Night for women). He joked about it, thought it was OK but only worried that someone listening to the program might think it is him. He also stated that he was driving w/ his son in Houston and turned to 610 and thought it was himself.

I also know for fact that Coach Slocum on a mobile (CSOM) wrote a letter to RC in which he explained his calls and hoped that RC did not take anything personally and that he was a supporter of RC and the football program. I also read the letter RC wrote back to CSOM which stated what has already been mentioned. He did not and to the best of my knowlegde, has not asked CSOM to discontinue his antics. His letter also voiced no displeasure but only mild concern for how it may be preceived by those that think it is him.

610 makes it clear that it is not RC they are talking to. If RC would take the time, just like Nick Saben, Dana Dimmel and Ken Hatfield, I bet CSOM would retire. The interviews 610 do with other coaches last no more than 15 minutes. Mack has a weekly call in show at nights and therefore doesn't call in during the morning show.

Funny thing is, RC has met CSOM, sat next to him at certain functions but doesn't know it is him. Part of CSOM's schtick is his anonymity.

I only wish the two of them would go on together. Now that would be funny.

What will be the result, OU will dominate and alot of Texas players will go to ND, FSU, Miami and the like. It is just like the melt down of the old SWC that occured a few years back because of this type of stuff.

Sometimes we are not very bright! We attack our own. Really dumb. RC has to be manipulated by a radio station. "Give us what we want or we'll trash ya"! I grew up in Houston and 610 has been sleazy in this sence for long time. RC is'nt dumb, believe it or not. He knows to talk with those sleeze bags is not a winning proposition anymore than doing and interview with Rome. It is done to get ammunition to parody!

Get a brain man. RC isn't perfect, but to go sleeze road to try to manipulate a change is extremely low!

Immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If we get the program headed in the right direction, then CSOM may find a national audience for his routine. They aren't doing Mike Leach on a mobile--yet.

BTW: CSOM, if you're out there, you should chekc out an article in the Topeka newspaper (I believe) where they were talking with various running QB's in college football and RC brought up Roger Staubach as starting the trend.

Dude, back away from the crack pipe. It is a funny bit and you are making it out to be some gigantic issue that is someone going to have an impact on our recruiting and on the field play.

Also, for someone touting Christian values you might want to stay away from the "going to the Jim Everett" card. Makes you look like a hypocrite.

If it were down to throwing some real punches, I take Slocum on a Mobile hands down over the real RC. I know him. Besides the real RC would call in a prevent defense and get pummeled for 24 late in the fight... ERRRRRRRRRR. He would keep the blitz coming and fight to win.

This happened many years ago and I am not sure what the show was but Rome kept calling him Chris Everett over and over. Everett finally said "one more time and I kick your ass" Rome did it again so EVerett got up and kicked his ass.

If the Ags start turning this thing around and beat the likes of Nebraska and OU and compete for the BIG XII South, then the jokes won't seem so biting. It will be like they are laughing with us and not at us.

Rome kept calling Jim Everrett Chris Everett. Jim Everret told him that "if you call me Chris again I'll come across the table and kick your ass". Jim said "OK....Chris," and Everett jumped over the table and tackled him.

This happened on the last word many years ago, not on the radio. It was hilarious.

Agree with everything 44 has said. CSOM is not any kind of conspiracy against RC or the Ags. This guy just started calling in to the show several years and was very funny. Over time he has become a favorite of the audience until they finally gave him his own segment. While he is still funny, he is having a harder time coming up with new material on a weekly basis than when he called in on his own.

They have offered RC a weekly segment for years and have stated numerous times - when the Aggie Conspiracy Theory starts anew - that RC has a standing offer. I understand RC is very busy, but Houston is his backyard and I have always felt it is a mistake to not spend 10-15 minutes a week on the show.

Actually, I think the interview was on ESPN, prior to the creation of The Last Word. I could be wrong.

As far as CSOM goes, anyone who has heard him can tell he is pro-Aggie and is just trying to poke some fun, albeit at Coach Slocum's expense. I have heard nothing but positives from the people who listen to him, and, if anything, it serves to help the image of A&M. Not everything has to be serious. Let's laugh a little.

Example if you present the image of being a 98 lb weakling that everyone and their dog makes fun of, what do you do. Complain / whine about those making fun of you or do you go out and do something about it.

Other coaches don't seem to have any problems with the jocks on 610. Why should RC be scared of them. Kind of reminds me of Mackovick not wanting to show up at the TD club years back, and cactus pryor had to take his place, I don't think they handled his absence with kid gloves. They gave it to him pretty good.

Yes the guy with the TV camera/microphone do carry a lot of weight. Rightly or wrongly.

Personally I get a kick outta listening to CSOM, more so than I do listening to ol RC himself. I listened to the entire Coaches show, last night, and the only thing I gleaned out of the whole hour was that Jason Carter was going to stay at QB. Oh Yeah and a couple of guys that were once part of RC's pit crew?, had returned to their old haunt. I wonder either of them are in the moving business now? I couldn't figure out why they chose now to reunite. LOL!!

The incident occurred on ESPN II on some talk show that Rome was hosting.

If Nick Saban can call in once a week in the morning, RC should be able to. This helped LSU in exposure, donations from alum, and recruiting.

The Everett vs. Rome incident was classic. I wish more players would kick the crap out of that loudmouth.
