Its been several years since I left college station and a couple since my last game and I was wondering if the rules on drinking have changed?

Are you still able to drink on campus and around Kyle Field?

I will be attending a game later this season and plan on tailgating and don't want to give CSPD or the A&M PD any reason to write me a ticket. Any info would be appreciated.

No you can't drink anymore.

You can drink at the tailgate but you can't walk around the outside of Kyle and drink anymore. If you are coming from west campus they make you toss your beverage when you walk out of the tunnel.

If you are coming from the other way (Koldus/MSC), there are a couple of signs up that I have seen saying no alcoholic beverages beyond this point.

I believe it is just on Kyle field grounds that you can't. Kind of like how the scalpers and people trying to sell their extra tickets are not permitted.

I walked all over Kyle with a Bud Light. I saw people walking up to the gate and tossing their beers. Unless your doing keg stands in the Kid Zone, I think you can pretty much drink where you want.

Yea, you can drink around Kyle Field de facto, but they can ask you to throw away your beer (or whiskey neat) at any point.

A cop told me a couple weeks ago that we had to be drinking "at a tailgate" or that he could ask us to toss the beers. I think they are trying to discourage people from wandering around with drinks, but it would be pretty hard to cite anyone for breaking this rule.

1) take an apple juice bottle, you'll be fine,

2) all they can do is block you from registering and put a hold on your transcripts anyway, so who cares, if you've graduated and have a job a couple of years out?

Have been walking to spirit walk from West Campus for the past 2 games and haven't had any problems. Then again we use koozies. As long as all they do is ask you to throw away it's not a big deal.

just get zone club tickets and you can drink anywhere....

Officially no but pour it into a styrofoam cup or other inconspicuous container and don't be obvious and you'll be fine. I've done it for decades.

according to a UPD officer I used to drink with, you can drink anywhere on A&M campus as long as there is a NCAA event, as the university is public property,. I.e. if you are not a student they cant punish you.

Technically you are not allowed too. Campus Police are specifically told too look the other way if the person is a potential donor. They do not want to accidentally piss off a big donor over a couple of beers. So as long as you are not a student, and not causing problems, you are ok.

we tailgate on west campus....I always grab a beer or two for the walk to kyle....
have never had any problems...usually stand in the ticket line while finishing my beer and toss right as I am handing the ticket taker my ticket..
just dont act like a moron and you will have no problems
