American Airlines 747 piano bar in the 70's. The closest you get now are the Arab airlines and they took their bars offline with Covid. Hopefully they are bringing them back.

Whats funny is how rough things were politically in the 70's and how bad they 'seemed' economically, life was so ****ing much better than it is now.

And 40 years from now, they'll be saying even with the COVID scare the 20s were way better.

But yeah, the 70s wasn't full of *******.

smoking, drinking, flirting with the stewardess during a flight.

And that was the pilots.

I've enjoyed the bar options upstairs on the A380 on Qantas (weak) and Emirates (awesome).

You're probably not going to believe this but circa 1976-1977, flying between Anchorage, Alaska and some place in the lower 48, probably Chicago or Dallas, my little brother and I played the sit down table top version of Pong.

I believe the airline was either Braniff or Continental and I'm certain it was on a 747. I never saw it again after that.

Edit: This site confirms Braniff had Pong starting in 1975.

Well that makes it official! Society has peaked and is declining…..take back the electric car and give us back airline piano bars! Getting hammered at one on the ground is fun enough, slamming six bourbons and demanding Leon Russell songs at a mile high is the stuff dreams are made of….

Flying back from Ireland in '78, for the connection in O'Hare, the flight attendant asked if I would like to visit the cockpit.

I get up there talking with the pilots and navigator, then, they were moved to the front of the line. I got to stand in the cockpit on takeoff. Air marshall would have shot me for that today.

The women in that picture couldn't have a bank account or credit card in their own name without their husband's signature.

Porn is a lot better now than in the 70s.

Pretty amazing they let minorities into the Piano bar.
Feels like equal opportunity was more widespread back then.

It wasn't.

The fact that everyone knew who the women were in that picture back in the 70s, is like EOT man.

I remember a United flight I took to Hawaii circa 1992 that still had a bar in what would be business class.

Pretty sure the 70's were the peak of music and cinema, in terms of overall quality…porn being the outlier as previous poster pointed out.
