Pretty accurate shooter to take out those engines....the guns are spread apart about 30 feet. Amazing event.

I recall that the guns were canted inward to converge at a certain distance ahead of the fighter. I think it varied, but let's say it was 500 feet. So theoretically, if he were 500 feet behind, al the bullets would be hitting one spot a few inches across.

The weirdest thing to me about this story is how the DC 3 pilots ignored the fighter, even after he took out one engine. What were they thinking?

That's insane. And awesome.


Wonder what kind of language those DC3 pilots were rattling off at the American pilot that had just blasted their first engine.

And then just as they thought it couldn't get any worse, he swings in and hits the other one.

That's crazy.
