All seniors are listed by their Name, Religion. Political Party and what they find most appealing in a woman....
Overwhelmingly Baptist ( Methodist distant second) and Democrat. "Purity" wins out on the fourth category.

I found White's religious response interesting and wonder if he is joking or he might be the class atheist. I had no idea what a Campbellite was but looking it up found that anyone who was an adherent of the 19th Century Restoration movement was ridiculed with that name, i.e. a person who actually believed in the Restoration movement would never call themselves by that name.

The Restoration Movement was an evangelical movement that was called the Great Awakening in America. That movement had a considerable influence on making America the Christian nation it is [was] and instituted the camp meeting in American culture. The movement actually influenced some huge revivals in the Civil War armies during more than one winter encampment. The movement heavily influenced today's Baptist Church, Church of Christ and helped give flight to the Shakers and Mormons as the movement sought a more basic form of Christianity compared to more established churches. Campbellites would reject being called that or Protestant because they insisted they were the only true Christians.

I like good old Francis Marion Law's answer on "most appealing about a woman".

"Womanliness" must have been 1895's way of saying "Hotness". Baptist boy shouldn't be saying that.

Proud to spend 2 years in his dorm

Wasn't Alexander Campbell the Aquinas of the Church of Christ?

I think that "Campbellite" is kind of an old country term for Church of Christ. Dad always used to talk about Camolites, and mom would always shush him. Took me a long time to realize he was mangling the term"Campbelite". The current Church of Christ members do not like to be called Campbellites.

I'm a member of the Church of Christ and if you called me a campbellites I would ask you what that meant because I had no idea

Well, I did say it was an old country term. Dad was born in 1929, so probably heard it when he was growing up

My dad was born in 1934 and I will ask him if he ever heard that terminology in his upbringing in Mineral Wells

Talked to my dad today and he said the term campbellites referencing members of the Church of Christ was common in the 30s and 40s in Mineral Wells

Yeah, when I looked into it, not being familiar with the term it really did sound like the modern CoC was the closest thing today.

It's a little surprising that even a list this short, if random, at A&M at that time (or anytime up until it's growth mushroomed) would have no German, Czech or 'bohunk' names, generally.
