Bob Eubanks (the old Newley Weds game show host) was one of the primary people responsible for getting the Beatles to come to the USA the first time. He was a music promoter at that point, mortgaged his house, and put up the $25k for them to come. He ended up promoting/producing them the next couple of times they came as well!

I recently read about the Burma Road where in May 1942 the Japanese attacked Paoshan. Several unexploded bombs containing a yellow substance were found. It turned out to be cholera and it killed an estimated 200,000 people.
