1935 Babe Ruth retires

  • 1985 Serial killing spree is put to an end --Leonard Lake commits suicide and Ng flees to Canada and is eventually returned

  • 1997 McVeigh convicted for Oklahoma City bombing

  • 1823 Ashley's fur trappers attacked by Indians--including Jim Bridger, Jed Smith, the Sublette brothers, Edward Rose. Colonel Henry Leavenworth immediately assembled a force of about 200 men came to the rescue and stupidly burned down the Indian village, setting back relations. Nice to know he has a prison named after him.
