anyone taking/have thoughts on Dr. David Sinclair's recommended supplements to to slow or possibly reverse aspects of the body's biological aging as supported by several studies?
Nicotinamide Mononucleotide(0.5-1g/day) and Resveratrol being the primary ones
Quote:

One of the most ground-breaking findings of the studies on NMN was its ability to slow down the signs of aging and possibly even reverse them. NMN prevents the expression of genes that control aging and, as mentioned, boosts SIRTS which are very much anti-aging. Interestingly, in one study, it was found that it reversed infertility in aged post-menopausal subjects, making them fertile and able to once more reproduce.
Although results may vary, you may well find certain signs of aging begin to decrease. This could mean improvement in your skin, hair, and overall condition.
As you can see, supplementing with NMN has many benefits to your health. Later on the article, we also cover how it can benefit chronic conditions and the latest findings related to that.

The lab had a nootropic that included these supplements with psilocin.

Pretty cool product.

Hope the lab gets funded to continue on.

Is there, to date, any evidence that NAD or NMN taken orally incorporates into mitochondria?

looked at enough studies about 2 years ago to convince me it was worth a shot haven't kept up much with the latest, many of his earlier trials were in mice but with highly promising outcomes.

Been taking 500mg/day scooped powder (from DoNotAge.org - best pricing I've found among the top reputable producers) under tongue (-debatable whether sublingual impacts absorption at all) mornings on empty stomach. I'd say the only noticeable affects I physically experienced were just the first few doses when I started kinda felt like had taken some sort of pre-workout

Thanks for posting that. People need to hurry up and do some high quality studies on NAD and NMN, Metformin, and Rapamycin in adults to try to determine how gero-protective they are. Before I get old.
For the record, and apropos of this Forum, exercise is the best agent to protect against aging and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease that we know of.

I've been using TruNiagen for a couple years, and now alternating monthly with Elysium's NMN…

I figure it's cheap enough to throw the dice on it and generally regarded as safe as of now.

I will mention, the reason the lab even went into these supplements to begin with was due to an MLM/D2C group approaching him with a request for these products.

Good or bad, it did make me pause and think.

Reading Zags post I ponder on how much money there is to be made promising longevity, when by the time any results are found, the companies could disappear like a fart in the wind.

I'd also like to know if there's any research on the products listed this far actually make it to mitochondria or if it's like vitamins and nearly everything goes out with a piss and adoesn't it make it where it's supposed to go. The lab made everything nano-encapsulated so it'd get into the bloodstream with maximum bioavailability, but I can't find anything on these other products/brands.

If anyone has any data I'd love to pour thru.

I've always been interested in resveratrol. Years ago I used to take some but haven't in a long time. I want to believe the hype but it always seems there is "more research needed." It has shown promise in animals in some studies but with caution.

I've never tried NMN but that sounds intriguing as well as Metaformin.

not sure if you're referring to Sinclair ("the lab") but he's never mentioned/promoted any particular brand/manufacturer of any of the products he uses so there isn't a specific company standing benefit from the studies/recommendations

Sinclair had a podcast series that goes into all this.

Peter Attia talks a lot about all of these medications. From what I can gather from multiple podcasts in which he discusses them, he seems most hopeful about the possibility that pulsed dosages of rapamycin will protect against aging. Less so for metformin, except in diabetics, and less yet for NMR/NAD/NMN. Just an overall observation.

Yes, Attia was a downer for me after I heard that and made me start questioning things…

So much of this is just unknown. Unfortunately, you need large numbers of study patients and long periods of time in order to "power" studies to determine longevity benefits. Also, we do not have good biomarkers for longevity, something Attia talks about at length. If we had reliable biomarkers, we could do studies with fewer patients and perform them over shorter periods of time in order to determine what works and what is snake oil.
