Any advice besides rest, ice, and advil?

Been battling this for several months now. I had a doctor recommend some sort of ointment but I don't remember what it was called.

Thanks in advance!

No, I haven't been.

Need to do a bit of research on exercises for it.

Give me a little background on how this started. I am a physical therapist see this quite a bit especially working with runners.

Mostly soccer. Playing with studs on hard, poor fields.

Also squatting and rowing is when I've noticed it a lot.

Be sure to listen to your PT.

I was running distance and playing indoor on turf and had some issues with anterior & lateral knee pain. It took almost a year to get back to my normal running routine and I still haven't returned to soccer yet.

I had terrible patellar tendonitis after ACL reconstruction. Using KT tape (in addition to physical therapy) helped tremendously. YMMV though.

Ice ...

Advil...

Straighten leg and let knee cap become loose, then massage the patellar tendon.

I actually watched a YouTube video earlier and they recommended massaging. I tried it a bit and man does it hurt. Starting to do PT and massaging but it seems counterintuitive to do so.
