This time on gatorskins. I have just the worst luck with tires.

Was that the 4000 mile ride?

It was a single day of it. Lincoln City, OR to Portland.

I'm not sure I had 6 cumulative flats on the other 69 days of riding.

i always carry patches.

but ran out of those too so i ended up walking about 5 miles into a small town that ended up having a bike shop. bought a new tire and new tube.

I fell your pain. I've had a lot of flats this year too. Haven't kept count.

I've definitely had nikes that the air bags blew out in.

And you don't have my knee and sciatic nerve issues.

Check your wheels. My stepdad has a funny story about getting three flats in one day of an MS150 several years ago. After the third one he figured out there was a problem with one of the spokes and it was poking the tubes. He folded up a dollar bill and put it between the tube and that spot and finished the ride.

I had more flats on gatorskins than on my basic tires..

Don't wear Nikes.

How were those wildhorses for Ark Traveler?

I have a few trail races this fall and spring and I'm ready to upgrade to some racing trail shoes. Heart is on those Vazee summits but im looking at other options.

Probably dooming myself here, but I have had great luck with Pro4 Endurance tires.

I'm a huge fan of the wildhorse. My new trail shoe, until nike discontinues it. That's typically what happens when I like one of their shoes.

I was getting flats every week riding Clement PDX and MXP. The benefit was that I could literally remove the tire with my hands and fingers alone: no levers needed.

We switched to Schwalbe G-One: levers absolutely needed and much much stiffer side walls...still have had some flats, but maybe one every 200-300 miles (our rides are on crushed gravel and side-walk/street around Austin.

cool. i tend to avoid their shoes, but i'm interested in some of their more specific shoes actually made well for a purpose (vapor fly, kiger, wildhorse.) i went out to get either some of those or the terra kigers, but found some new Asics Frequent trails that were dirt cheap and i really liked. really low drop and good response on trails. i liked them more than my asic ventures or NB trail runners.

Flats are like ghosts. If you don't believe in them, they don't happen to you.
