Protein shakes and stretching. So much stretching. I usually end up with a Charley horse in the middle of the night if I don't.

In addition to the roller, look into Voo Doo flossing. It's basically a long rubber band wrapped tightly around any sore area for 90-120 seconds to flush blood and tightly compress muscle groups so you can recover faster. This and whey, and glutamine will be your best friends.

Edit: cause I can't spell

If I've just worked out, I switch to a protein shake for my chaser.

This. I love premiere protein at 30g in 160 cals.

Also, wrt to DOMS, it has been suggested that you follow-up with stretching and/or light exercise the following day even when sore. I've done this a few times and find it to be helpful.

My wife is into BeachBody stuff, so I drink Shakeology after workouts. Cut my soreness in half.

MLB players take Viagra to recover. I am not even kidding. Increases bloodflow ans oxygen to muscles.
