I want to add 5 - 10 pounds healthy. I understand calories in, calories out, what I am looking for is suggestions of healthy(er) high calorie food. I figure eating Whataburger and McDonalds 3 times a day shouldn't be my plan.

Current eating plan:
Chocolate Milk after working out
Peanut Butter and banana snack
Chicken or other protein for lunch with salad/side
Whatever the wife cooks for dinner

You understand calories in and calories out? So just add more calories of non whataburger. Keep your macros balanced and make sure you're not burning more than you're taking in.

It's rather simple. Just increase your portion size of lean meats and vegetables with every meal, and increase your weight/volume of your weight lifting. Boom. 5-10 pounds of lean mass should show up in a couple months time. Gaining weight is the easy part. It's losing fat but increasing gains and lean mass that is incredibly difficult

Lean meat? You need some steak, eggs, fish, nut butters, and then lean meats come next.

Whey protein shakes, almonds, cashews, guacamole, protein bars, etc.

It's a good problem to have.

Drink one of these every morning:

2 cups of coffee
2 cups of WHOLE milk
1 banana
2-3 strawberries
1 yogurt (strawberry or strawberry banana flavor is my favorite)
1 giant tablespoon peanut butter
2 scoops of whey protein
1 tablespoon of honey

Blend....

You can trim calories by switching to low fat milk, low calorie yogurt, and reducing peanut butter quantity. As it stands it's something like 1300-1500 calories. Have one every weekday morning!

Type 1 Diabetic here. I'm on a high fat high protein diet for Diabetes control. I have successfully added about 15 lbs of weight to my frame (weigh about 186 lbs) by eating a crap ton of chicken salad at lunch. My b-fasts and dinners have pretty much stayed consistent, but it's my lunches that have made the difference. I throw in a mix of nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews) into some chicken salad made with 6 oz. of lean chicken breast and I add about 6-7 tablespoons of mayo. My weight and strength have consistently increased over the course of the last few months. This may not be how you want to do it, but nothing else was working for me and this way allows me to pile on weight, get stronger, without spiking blood sugar because of carbs.
