For the marathoners here - looking at a time-based or distance-based approach for the Dallas marathon.

I've done distance training for two halves and for triathlons, but I am interested in a time & HR- based training approach purely out of curiosity.

Which do you prefer and why?

I always do distance-based training for up to the marathon distance. might have an occasional run where i go out easy for X amount of time. Its easier to dial in my paces when going for distance. I don't really train by HR. I've been running long enough to know how hard I'm pushing myself.

over that its usually time on my feet or at least a combination of time and distance depending on the run.
