Just upgraded my 2023 STX to my very first Lariat. My god, what a huge difference. It's night and day. For those that have a Platinum or King Ranch, any reason not to stop here in trim level? The ventilated seats are a game changer.

First trim with vent seats and 360cam is the sweet spot for value and comfort

Edit: Forgot to say adaptive cruise. That's more important than 360 cam.

Best you can get without a hole in the roof.

Only thing I wish my Lariat had was adaptive cruise control.

Chevy LTZ
Tundra Limited

My opinion of where to stop. After that, you're paying a lot more for not a lot more.

Is Lariat 4x4 any diff than XLT 4x4 in terms of off road packaging?

I wish some manufacturers would offer a model with leather and off road trim etc., but with outdated interior and engine tech features...aka...fewer things to glitch up and cost you money.

One of the things I like about the "Custom" trim of the Chevy 2500. Give me this all day errday...behold the simplicity...

I'm with you.

I wanted a full console (not front bench), and leather.

But to get that, I had to get a much higher trim level, with way more features on it than I'll ever use.

But now that I've had ventilated seats in Texas, I'm not sure i can go back.

I believe that if want 4-Auto then you have to get Lariat.

Interesting...so is 4WD essentially the default setting and it switches to 2WD at certain speeds/driving conditions and back to 4WD as needed? Or do I have that backwards?

I think Lariat Ultimate is the sweet spot and what I ordered for my '21 and '24 F250 tremors. Never have been a fan of the king ranch/platinum tailgates & chrome.

After my 2019 GMC SLT 4x4 was totaled by a moron kid in a Jeep a few months ago, I ended up buying a 2022 Ram Laramie 4x4. Most of the interior stuff is the same, the only extra was the wireless Android Auto (which wasn't available in 2019).

I still wanted the 4x4, leather, heated/cooled seats, and all of the creature comforts that my 2019 had and I got them. I didn't want to have to buy a new truck but this one was available and was close to the insurance payout on my 2019 so it is an OK trade. I would still have rather kept my GMC since it was low miles for its age, but the Ram is nice.

The BlueCruise is really nice on the expressway. Free 90 day trial.

Blue Cruise is especially great for long drives when you want to stretch or take a break for whatever. I also don't hate the messaging seats on long drives.

I haven't had any of the real high end driver aids on my daily driver so didn't miss it.

My list is
2014 F350 platinum (65k miles)
2015 F350 Platinum (220k miles)
2020 Chevy 2500 Work Truck
2025 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn

So with that wild swing those are the three must haves.

Correct. torque on demand transfer case is Lariat and up.

Also cooled seats, power folding mirrors are also only Lariat and higher.

I agree on the chrome on the back tailgates. You can get away from that on the King Ranch if you go with matching bumpers instead of the Chrome package.

It still has the 2wd setting as default. 4a uses a clutch in the transfer case to engage 4wd instantly when it detects slip. Hubs stay locked and it drives effectively like AWD. 4H the clutch stays locked.

This transfer case it's not as durable as the non 4a transfer case in the lower trims. So for the Raptor, they built a case that combines the two cases, so you get 4a and a durable 4H. Unless you're racing, the durability of the 4a case shouldn't be an issue.

Am I the only one who wishes you could disable this feature on modern vehicles that have it? My wife's new Honda has ACC and it is useful in some situations but screwy and sometimes even downright dangerous in others. Her car slows down dramatically if there is a curve in the highway ahead because it reads cars in the other lane as in front of our vehicle. Also, if you want to change lanes twice relatively quickly, have to remember that the speed drops dramatically in the first lane change if there is a car way out ahead of you.

I personally can't stand it...but maybe would get used to it if it was my daily driver. But not having an option to disable it is insanity imo.

Edit: I stand corrected. I just googled it and it's pretty easy to disable...last time I listen to her on anything auto related. Can't wait to drive her car soon so I can test it out!

I like the XLT package - it's perfect for what I use. I have a 22 XLT 4x4 with the 3.5. I put Katskin leather in it as that's all I wanted in addition to what came with the package. Saved a lot of money versus going up to a Lariat.

I'm assuming you want to use cruise control but don't want to use adaptive cruise control. I don't know if that can be done, but I'm not an expert. I love adaptive and would not consider a car without these days.
