I haven't heard of thieves hooking up a device to your OBD port to steal your car, but Houston police are recommending port locks to keep them from being successful.

This applies to theft of Dodges more than GM. Everything in a modern vehicle is controlled by the computer(s). Ignition is no exception.

ETA: They definitely hooked up to OBD in link to below video. Another method of stealing GM trucks is popping the hood and swapping computers

I'm guessing this OBD port lock does more on a push-to-start (the button, not the way we've done standards) vehicle? Or are even the modern keyed vehicles just interacting with a circuit board rather than a physical analog connection in the "start" position?

HPD needs to set out more of their bait cars to catch the rats.
