Enclave or Sienna?

We have four kids and are trying to decide between a used Enclave or Sienna (2021 or newer). We have an older Odyssey that we will keep and will be selling our sedan.

Enclaves are more affordable and have good reliability scores (better than Siennas on JD Power) but I do wonder about long-term reliability of GM products and they are less spacious than Siennas.

My wife prefers to not have two minivans so that's why we are considering Enclaves since they seem to be a good value.

Any advice on Enclaves vs Siennas?

My folks have had two Acadias - the GM version of the Enclave.

The first was plagued with water intrusion issues. The second, a 2018, had terrible interior build quality. At under 50k miles, the leather wasn't holding up, clear coat on most of the wheels had failed, clear coat on all of the exterior piano black trim had failed, sun roof shade holder broke. This is with elderly folks who generally aren't hard on cars. Couldn't imagine how the interior would hold up to a family.

They bought a Kia Telluride last year to replace the Acadia.

If you came here looking for an unbiased opinion on Buick's you came to the wrong place. I don't know much about them but they seem popular and reliable.

Is JD Power a good tool to use for gauging a car's reliability or are there better websites/data to look at?

I think that depends on the specific model these days. Toyota today isn't Toyota of yesterday.

A good rule of thumb if buying new today is to just assume that whatever you look for will generally be unreliable.

Toyota's issues of the late is with newer models as it takes time for Toyota to get it figured out. Some of the older but first/early models also went through quality improvement process to perfect it.

Sure, I wouldn't buy a first year model of the late Toyotas. But we are talking about Sienna now going on 4 years with the new model.

Has DOGE probed JD Power yet?

I'd wait.

The interior and styling of the newest Enclave version is a big leap from the last gen.

Yep. Neighbors across the street bought a new Acadia a few years ago and had tons of transmission issues with it to the point they attempted to get it lemon lawed, but were unsuccessful, so they bit the bullet and took the hit to trade it in on a Grand Highlander, which they've had zero issues with.

I've got a contact for used vehicles in DFW

aggiepaintrain@gmail.com

With a warranty and let's say $10k less than a Sienna an Enclave or Acadia "might" be a valid option.
Don't own one out of warranty.

personally I'd get a sienna

Although I advocated for a 4Runner to my mom, she just purchased an Enclave about a month ago. I also had a 2001 Tahoe but have switched to Toyota.

Edit: my stepfather has his deceased father's 2000 Expedition (Ford).

Well yeah but doesn't your wife have a Nissan Kicks? Can't believe you left out that relevant detail.

Yes, 2018, bought clean, and then she trashed it.
