Easy, the Subaru thought the tree spot was a free parking spot, ran over the tree at higher speeds then necessary to park and flipped on it side with a slide.

I work with the guy in the Excursion. He had just gotten back in it from going into the store when this happened. It was about a 70 year old woman driving. She said when she pulled into her parking space she applied the brake, but the car instead accelerated.

The guy I work with is worried they're going to total his Excursion and it's not like he can go out and get a new one.

They went over one of the islands at a decent rate of speed. That's where the tree comes from and explains how the vehicle got rotated 90 degrees from normal.

My guess is that they weren't trying to ease into a spot.

I work in EMS and have been dispatched to five or so rollovers and all have been in residential areas but never a parking lot. That is truly impressive.

Yep. Whisky throttled right up the tree and she did a 540-Ollie-McSnotter-Slide right between the two parked cars. Judges gave her an 8.9. Would have been higher if she'd stuck the landing though.

He can buy it back with a salvage title and fix it. Nothing there that can't be fixed by a decent body shop.

If he's planning on keeping it forever there's no issue with the salvage title. If he wants to sell it later, I'd just document everything and show it to buyers. True Excursion buyers likely wouldn't care.

I should have never sold my '02 7.3 Excursion.
