What are everyone's thoughts on the new Nissan Armada? I am trying to decide between Armada and Tahoe and the new Armada seems very impressive. Went for a test drive and it handled as well as a Tahoe and far better than Expedition. Interior was better and seems to run about 10k cheaper at least with what I'm comparing.

It is a brand new model so some definite risks but seems that the Tahoes have there own known problems with the 5.3 and 6.2 and possibly transmissions. Unfortunately, I have owned a 3.0 ecodiesel and after how that turned out I wont be doing a small diesel again.

I expect a lot of Nissan bashing in this comparison but interested to see what people think.

My wife will need a new SUV next year, and I've had my eye on the Armada ever since the redesign. I think it looks better than anything else on the interior. I love that it still has buttons with the sleek screen. I hate the ipad look of the gmc, although I do think the tahoe screen is clean.

Some knocks on the Armada is that it loses value quickly and the new TT engine is unproven. I wish it still had the V8. Although anyone could argue that all car brands have engine concerns these days. My problem is my wife has the Nissan stigma in her head and I'm not sure if she will even give it a fair chance when the time comes.

With saying all that I've got a feeling she will probably end up in another 4runner like she currently drives or the GX550.

Another option is if you can wait until next year I bet you could get a CPO QX80 for cheaper than an Armada/Tahoe new.

We had a qx80 with no issues other than intermittent CEL for cats up to 150k miles. High depreciation so I'd buy used.

Never buy the first year of a new model. On the other hand, never buy a GM product. That said, if you can wait for the 2026 models, definitely go for the Armada. Nissan's trucks and large SUVs have always been exceptionally reliable, and even with the transition to a TTV6 engine, Nissan has a lot of experience with this type of engine and is unlikely to experience the same debacle as Toyota.

I was on the wait list for a GX550, backed out after driving one. More truck (rough jittery) ride than I expected and very limited space for what I was looking for compared to others for same price.

Tahoe and Armada have massively better drive characteristics. GX was similar to Expedition so its not just the solid axle, they definitely went offroad in the focus on new GX for all trims I think.

Armada for sure. Tahoes look amazing but I would not trust them.

I've had a lot of problems with Nissans over the last 5 years.
Nissan is being saved by Honda. I'm cautious about buying anything Nissan not knowing the future of the brand.

I had a 2001 Tahoe, but sold it off a while back. Wife has a 2018 Nissan (Kicks). I'm now in a 4Runner Limited, my mom has a new Buick Enclave, and my stepfather has his deceased father's 2000 Expedition (Ford).

Does the expedition have adjustable suspension to fix jittery rough ride? If it does I was not aware so I don't think drive mode matters. I was in mode it starts in so comfort I assume.

I think this is big reason tahoe and armada are better performers. Magride for tahoe and air springs with adjustable dampers for armada.

If I didn't drive them all back to back it may not have been a big deal but for similar price the difference is pretty big and I can't ignore it.

Ours when in comfort mode sways a ton. Too soft. In normal mode it's nicely stable ride.

Here's my take. We've had multiple infiniti qx 80s (basically same as the armada) and switched to a '22 Yukon Denali. Loved the diesel engine but the ride and driving was not near as comfortable and responsive as Infiniti. We had lots of problems with the electronics (glitchy and sometimes would just shut off the instrument panel or disconnect continuously from CarPlay). Replaced the fuel pump due to recall and some other sensors. We were taking it to the dealer about 4-5 times a year. Wife decided she was done with it and it's problems and wanted back into a qx80. She is now driving a '25 qx80 and it is so much better to drive than the Yukon. I think if you test drive both the choice will be clear.

those are +'s for me and my wife, not -'s. We want something that drives more like a truck.
