Wife and I are looking for a 3rd row SUV and have started to lean to the Palisade (specifically the Limited and Calligraphy models).

Any owner reviews? ...or maybe experiences with them?

That's a FLATOUT tough decision!

We have a 2021 Limited and it's been phenomenal. All the advanced tech features are implemented incredibly well and it hasn't given us any trouble with almost 40k miles on it. I thought I would hate the adaptive cruise and lane keep assist but it's subtle and unobtrusive. Also, the hated engine start/stop feature has a button right on the dash to turn it off and it stays off when the car is restarted. The engine has plenty of power for a kid hauler and the 8-speed transmission shifts smoothly. If you need more you can switch to sport mode for a little more go. We routinely get 26 mpg on the highway and average about 23 (FWD). The cabin has lots of room in the second and third rows. I'm 5'11" and can sit comfortably in the third row, though I wouldn't want to on a long trip.

My two complaints are that the engine holds 6.7 quarts of oil so I can't just grab a 5 quart jug and be done with it, and the rear hatch opens just by standing behind it with the key in your pocket. It's can be a pain to not be able to stand behind the car without the hatch opening.

Overall, I really like the face lifted version and would get another one without hesitation.

Exactly the same experience with my 21 Limited with a few nuanced differences/questions:

- We have to turn off the auto start/stop every time we start the car. How are you able to get to stay off?
- We didn't like the auto rear lift gate either. There's an option to turn it off in the setup menu which we did.
- I'm 6'5" and my wife is 6'. Our kids are 9 and 11 and are very tall for their age. We routinely carry the four of us plus a 50 lb dog and/or one of their friends. It never feels cramped. It's actually shocking how small it looks on the outside and how small it feels to drive versus how large and spacious the inside feels.

Echo the comments here. My wife drives a 2021 calligraphy and it has been perfect for us. Plenty of space, fairly peppy, good mileage, all that jazz. Thing that has impressed me the most though is the build quality. Everything feels solid, nothing is janky and after 20k miles we have had zero issues.

I wouldn't touch one until they and Kia get the oil drain plug spitting issue figured out.

How does the location of the wireless charger work for y'all? We've been looking at the Palisade, but the location of the carver next to the drink holders is a turn off. Seems like it will be prone to spills. Also, it seems like it'll become a collection point for "stuff" and just get blocked from actually being able to use it for the phone charger.

The wireless charger is kinda useless. It is tucked in pretty deep into the console. I rarely use it.

The wireless charger location could be better. We haven't had any issues with spills or junk accumulation but I could see that being a problem. The biggest issue I see with the location is having the USB port directly over it which further blocks access with the USB cable sticking out. I got some cables with connectors with a 90 degree turn which mitigates the problem pretty effectively, but ideally the USB port would be located elsewhere.

These look like USB cables I bought:

Recently purchased a 2023 Calligraphy (FWD). Fantastic vehicle, represents a great value for the price. It has an incredible amount of features and tech that I have not experienced in any car/truck that I've ever driven. It appears to be well built, fit and finish is superior, handles well. The engine/transmission seems to be well matched for the size of the vehicle. Comfort wise the Nappa Leather seats are so soft and the power "massage" is great for a tired back.

Can't say enough, this one is definitely a "keeper". Anyone looking to buy in this segment should definitely give the Palisade a look.

We have a '22 calligraphy with 22k miles on it now. Been to Colorado and big bend with it now. Family of 4 with a 8 and 7 year old. We added a thule rack that makes camping and packing great. Looks slick too. We stick the dogs in the back.

One issue to note, passenger AC seems less cold. I will admit we bought it in September of '21 and I still haven't tried to understand all the tech and touch screen stuff. My dream car is a '89 Land Cruiser with zero tech. That said, the lane
Assist and cruise control breaking/spacing is awesome! It practically drives itself. Very comfortable.

Biggest complaint is that dealerships in austin are like two months out on appointments.

Meant to address. On the wireless chargers… bad placement. Rarely use it. Too much stuff around it. There are a ton of usb chargers and plugs around though.

Thought of another complaint. Cup holders in the front passenger doors suck. Too small.

The pass through storage under the center console up front is very unique. Lots of options there.

There are companies that make a computer re-flash module that will permanently turn off the AS/S. You just plug it into the OBD port under your dash, wait about 30 seconds, and then pull it back out. To reverse back to OEM, just plug it in again. I do not know if anyone makes one for your particular vehicle, but it would be worth your time to investigate. It is also a possibility that if you have a regular 110v outlet in the rear seat area or cargo area, that by plugging something that runs continuously into that outlet will turn off the AS/S. Works in some Fords, so you might try it if you have the outlet. People have plugged in a small LED nightlight into their vehicles to do this, and I think charging a back-up battery will do the same.

- I'm 6'5" and my wife is 6'. Our kids are 9 and 11 and are very tall for their age.

Wow - what are the odds.......... ;-)

We have a 22 Calligraphy model and my wife loves it. We had a Lexus prior to this one and this car is much better to drive. I do miss the Lexus service coming straight to my house and getting the car for maintenance, but the Palisade has been a very good car.

Wife has the Limited. She loves it. Only drawback is the mirrors don't fold in automatically. Drives her nuts backing out of the garage. Other than that, it's fantastic and the tech is great.

My wife loves her '22 Calligraphy. We looked at the Lexus GX and Audi Q7, and she preferred the way the Palisade drove. As mentioned in previous replies, the phone charger is located in a poor location. but there are many USB ports around the vehicle. I was very surprised at how luxurious this vehicle was compared to the other vehicles we test drove.

I checked with my wife and I was wrong, it has to be turned off every time.

Glad to hear everyone in here has had such a good experience the Palisade. We sell them as fast as they hit our store if they're not already pre-sold.

If you're in town swing by College Station Hyundai and come see me.

Not to derail this thread, but I'd also look into the Genesis GV80 as well. When my wife and I visited the Hyundai dealership to test drive the Palisade, there was a two month wait on the delivery of a GV80 so we were not able to test drive it. I've heard good things about that model..

Bought a '22 Calligraphy last March. Got rear ended over Thanksgiving; Ford F250 never hit the brakes. Totaled both vehicles. The Palisade took the impact perfectly. Luckily nobody was in the third row but the back end collapsed right down the middle. Luckily it didn't push us into oncoming traffic. Two totaled cars and everyone walked away without a scratch.

We bought a '23 Calligraphy in December. Loved both but I actually preferred the 22 (loved the color we had, loved the wheels, etc). But no complaints about the '23, and the third row heated seats and heated steering wheel were nice ads.

All in all we've been happy with it. As others have stated the tech is pretty impressive and minimally intrusive. We went 2WD both times; I've only needed AWD once over the past year. That would be the only thing I might do different.

Thanks for all the feedback, much appreciated.
We have 2 kids in car seats, so my wife has really leaned on the Car Mom YouTube videos to help us narrow things down on vehicle selection. Specifically the 3rd row has a realistic clearance, roof air vents, and great console setup. A lot of additional tech standard on Calligraphy that focuses on kid passengers as well. Searching on Cars.com is a bit depressing as there seems to still be a lack of new inventory, and the '22 used are high miles and no real difference in price from a new.

How did those that bought them recently find them? Pre-order? Had them on a lot? I suppose if I need to expand my search, I could (in response to FALLOUT).
