Curious on thoughts of changing transmission fluid on a high mileage (173,000) truck with 4.7L. Fluid is brownish but shifts fine. I don't have a history of truck and fluid changes. Always nervous of causing more issues than correcting with transmission fluid changes.

I assume on one that old you have a simple drain plug and fill tube? I see no harm with a basic drain and refill. Just don't flush.

Drain and fill should be alright. Do you tow much? Heat is the trans fluid killer moreso than age.

Like they said. Drop the pan, swap the filter, refill.

While you are under there roll to the rear end and do the same on your Diff (sans filter). Get the Mopar additive if you have a limited slip differential.
