1975 Chevy 350 with an Edelbrock 650 carb.

Noticed that after it idles for a while it loses power when I am am starting off again. 10 to 20 mph. After a couple of blocks, it starts running correctly.

With the extreme heat I am wondering if it is vapor lock. Never had this issue before. The fuel filter looks ok but is dry when at rest.

Also getting more hard starts.

What say you texags?

If you don't have a fuel delivery problem, advance timing a hair.

Do you have at least a 1 inch spacer under carb?

If not try that first and check the carb gasket for cracks

If the filter is "dry" at idle then you have a weak fuel pump.

Past that it is dirt or debris in metering rods, weak springs on metering rods, or jets are clogged or corroded.

Long shot it might be a coil or loose connection.

Most secondary ignition issues will be present hot or cold unless they are really strange problems.

Sprayed carb cleaner in it and the problem disappeared.

Been waiting for it to return but so far it worked.

I didn't think that it was a carb problem due to the intermittent nature but that did the trick.

Thanks for the help!
