My first vehicle was a '72 Bronco (I'm class of '01) and my dad talked me into buying because I would have to learn to work on engines and care for a vehicle. It was the "boy named Sue" approach to teaching your son.
In the end I loved that vehicle and was really excited to see the new Bronco release but this far I'm really unimpressed.

It's 2.3L v6 with a max factory 2.7L and at least looks grossly underpowered. After owning a 302 V8 with a dual barrel carb, at least on paper, this new Bronco looks like an underpowered polished turd. It looks like glorified Ford Escape.

Has anyone driven one so far any thoughts? Am I overreacting or is this a pathetic POS?

I've had my F150 with the 2.7 for 5 years and can assure you it's not underpowered. Why not go test drive an Expedition with the 2.7 to get a feel for it since it's a bigger and heavier vehicle?

The Expedition has the 3.5L EcoBoost, not the 2.7

I saw one in person yesterday at a ford dealer in killeen. It's the size of the old body Edge, I wouldn't worry about it being underpowered.

My newer F150 has a 3.5L V6. It produces 450 HP, a lot more torque and will blow the doors off of the old F150.

My guess is that your old Bronco produced under 180 HP.

So did all of the Sports not get reserved like the normal Bronco I'm guessing? Looks like the dealership in Thornton has some.

The Sport doesn't have the interest the big Bronco has. There's definitely a market for it, but it doesn't have the same following.

Wife set up an appointment to test drive a sport this evening. I'm guessing she wants a new car. Yay!

You do. You took a weekend class afterall!

I never said I was an expert, but I did learn enough in that class to give some basics. Those basics were not followed by that driver.

Update from today. We found a dealer with a sport big bend on the lot. I was really expecting the little 3 cylinder to be under powered but it was really responsive. It rode well..
test drive went through some construction and rough areas and it was pretty smooth. It does not ride like the escape. A little more rugged feel but still comfortable. Wife loved driving it and was not uncomfortable with it at all. We will be ordering one within the next few months.
