We are trying to get out of debt, so I am reluctantly attempting to sell my second car. I am in Tennessee. I have already gotten a quote from Carmax. Are there any other national chains who usually give higher values than Carmax?

Or, best website to sell private party?

I sold to Carvana recently. Super easy process and quote was about 5% higher than car max or 2 local dealerships I'd tried. Private party is obviously going to get you the most but I didn't want the hassle.

I did it all through the website. Didn't talk to anyone until they showed up at my door the next day to sign paperwork and take the vehicle. Super easy.

Well, looks like they don't give crap for older cars, even though it's in immaculate condition.

Carvana offered $237

Carmax offered $3500.

I'll take it to some dealers tomorrow.

'03 G35 Coupe, v-6 auto, Bose sound system, moonroof. 96 k miles. Less than 10k on tires. Two small tears on drivers side seat. Otherwise, leather in excellent shape. Paint is in 9/10 condition (small scratches on passengers side rear fender).

Sounds like dealing with Craigslist or FB Marketplace would be worth it in your case to maximum your sales price. Spend a Saturday detailing the engine bay and the interior, wash and wax, and take some good pictures and you shouldn't have much trouble getting something better than Carmax will offer. That is unless you're fine with the "$500 over Carmax" type offer you should be able to find at a dealer.

Oh, and I'll give you $250. All in quarters.
