The only 100% legal way to replace halogen with led is to use a DOT certified unit which are sealed if going aftermarket or replace with a manufacturer LED/HID unit.

However if you buy a high quality kit and make sure it is aimed correctly you shouldn't have any problems.

Someone with more knowledge than me (1ags, etc) will be along to correct me or fill in with more detail.

I think these are similar to what my son wants to install on his 16 f-150.
Morimoto XB Hybrid LED headlights.
GTR lighting carbide series 2.0 canbus 7440/7443 LED bulbs standard-style

I have never done this. Do they need to be "aimed" and installed professionally or is it ok to just diy install?

Update, I Ended up installing Alpharex Nova's in my truck this afternoon. Install was really easy. I am looking forward to driving around with them tonight. The fact that it is 100% legal is what made me spend the extra money.

I habe a set of halogen 2013 headlights and a set of the crystal lux LED headlights if anybody is interested in them.
