About to trade in an 8 year old van with about 150k miles on it.

Windshield is broken, driver's power seat doesn't work, and the rear bumper cover is torn up.

Worth fixing these items prior to getting it valued or just take it in as-is?

No, but you should just sell it private party. "Big, juicy van..."

It might make $500 worth of difference on the trade in. You will net out lower.

if you trade it in, they can fix those items cheaper than you can.

I would think the dealer would turn around and sell it wholesale.

depends on dealer, but probably so. When it goes to back to retail, a used car lot dealer can fix it cheaper than you. They all should have connections or a shop that does all their work.

so i wouldn't get those items fixed at retail prices when you trade in a car at a less than wholesale price.

Is this a mini-van or full size? If the latter (and possibly the former), a contractor may buy it and not even care about the items you mentioned so I'd definitely stick it on Facebook marketplace or one of the other selling apps and see what you can get. If that's too much trouble, trade it and don't worry about it. As stated, the dealer can do everything wholesale (if they choose to) rather than the retail price you'd pay. A LITTLE of that difference MAY factor into the trade.

No, because they're just going to send your vehicle to auction, so they don't care about a few little things.
