Fleet truck already wants to bite the dust.

Can barely get it started, all electronics work. Ran perfectly all morning.

Dash lights up with errors.

Rattle/grinding coming from under cab.

5months old w/21k miles.

Some sensor somewhere, let the dealer find it. My wife had 2011 flex ecoboost with an advance track error. Took the dealership 1.5 days of troubleshooting to track it down to a steering wheel position sensor that was bad.

But is that what is causing the grinding/rattle from under the truck?

Just went out and it won't start again.

Gonna let my fleet manager make Ford tow this thing 25 miles to their dealership. She will have fun with this one.

Missed that part, yeah that's not good.

Still throwing a code. On a whim I threw it in 4x4 and reverse and the grinding died down after 2-3 cycles.

From experience: if you blow it up, it's easier to diagnose.

POS won't start now.

Everything else works, just won't crank.

Tried disconnecting battery.

Going to make them come pick it up.

Some sort of "transmission control module" failure.

According to the service department:
Nationwide backorder. Could be 2+ weeks before they even get a part, because they are having to make them one by one to keep up with the replacements.

I've been waiting 40 days for a Transmission Control Module to fix my truck.

F this company.

40 days? Yeah, that's not acceptable, someone needs to escalate that to corporate, and I wouldn't rely on the dealership to do it.

It's not the dealer, I feel I've been treated fairly by them.

Everyone is involved all the way up to Corporate.

What I have been told:
There were no TCM parts for this transmission nationwide. There are 3 versions of this part, only 1 is on backorder. My truck is the 3.5L eco boost and I'm driving another one of our leases which is the V8. These take two different TCMs I'm told.

Ford was only making them "as requested". They made a batch of 35 and I was put on a waiting list. They said they were shipping the part two weeks ago and abruptly canceled that and put everyone back on the waiting list.

I was told this list was several hundred requests long.

This is a fleet vehicle and we lease several hundred F150s currently.

ETA: I have a bill for $900 worth of truck rentals that I expect to be reimbursed for after this is done.

I'm pretty calm about it because it is a fleet truck I'm not out of pocket anything myself.

Edit 2:

I did call multiple dealers and part suppliers in addition to Corporate and all confirmed the backorder on the part.

Edit 3:
I was told the part was shipped and will arrive by Monday.

Bottom line it is UNACCEPTABLE for a in production vehicle to have a shortage of parts for a disabled customer car.

Have a parts guy drive to the factory and grab one from the line and fedex it.

I have spoken to someone at Ford for you.

Sent. Just a frustrating situation.

Like the truck when it's running. Better than my dodge I had last time.

Now the question is...does the TCM fix the issue?
fightingfarmer09
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Well as I feared. Waited this long for a part. It came in and didn't fix the issue. Transmission still will not shift properly.

Rapidly approaching 60 days sitting in the shop.

Might keep my 2014 boost for longer than I originally thought... 115k and virtually zero issues. 150k was going to be the mark but I may wait until 200k now

The truck is not starting unless they bypass the computer that controls the ignition. I am told (not a car guy) that the engine computer, transmission control module, ignition, and many other parts act as a large very complex relay and series of checks and they have no idea what is causing the error to prevent the truck from running. They are working on getting a Ford Engineer to come working on it (they have been in contact with them suggesting fixes).

TLDR: This truck has so many computers in it they don't know what the hell to do.

I spoke to another guy when I went to get the fleet loaner oil change at one of the local shops (yes I've put 6k miles on the loaner since getting it). They helped tow a neighbor to the other Ford dealership, they had the same problem, about 40 days ago. It took them 2 weeks to run the code and still haven't gotten their part. They towed it to a local shade tree that bypassed the relay until the TCM arrives.

Yes. Many times.

Is it time to hit it with a hammer?

Body Control Module now the suspect after a Ford Engineer looked at it.

They have to generate a code before they can confirm and order the parts. Likely won't be until next week when that gets completed.

The saga continues!

Power Train Control Module swapped out as well as the TCM and we are back running.

Had the truck for 250 or so days. 70 days in the shop.

Seems to me that you are only the second person on Texags to have an unreliable 'boost

Who was the other person because I had 3.5 boost problems in my wife's flex. My brother had even more in his F150.
