I'm replacing the positive terminal battery cable on my car. I have the cable assembly that I need. So obviously the main part goes to the battery post and then a bolt on side of the battery housing. Where does the white wire go, what does it connect to? Srs and non-srs replies welcome.

Here's a stock photo of the part. Part#: CV6Z-14300-A

Here's a pick of the diagram. 14300A is the part.

can't you just look at your existing one?

looks thin so nothing that would draw alot of power

I can. I am at work and the car is at home. Just figured I would ask before I got home and started working on it.

So it looks like it ties into the 14300B cable down below the fuse box. And if google is correct, that wire is what helps recharge the battery.

Ok so not the 14300B but some other cable that goes back to the right side of the engine bay and fuse box area. Can I just strip back the casing on both and "splice them together" and cover it with a bunch of electrics tape?

Soldering would be best.

How about a wire nut and then electrical tape?

That's what I ended up doing.

man that sounds really dangerous....

I would solder and use heat shrink to cover the soldered area.

Don't use wire nuts on autos.
Solder that thing and do it right or take it to someone who can.

Message received. Forgive my ignorance. I will keep it parked until I can get it soldered and heat shrink on it to cover the area.

If you aren't able to solder yourself, go to the auto parts store and get some insulated/heat shrink crimp on butt connectors. They're the next best thing to a soldered/heat shrunk connection and don't really require any skills to install.
