Getting civic ready to sell. Son worked partime for a "Eco friendly" mosquito exterminator. Drove home with residue that smelled like garlic and it leaches into carpet and seats. Other than shampoo, any suggestions outside of reupholstering?

Leave some baking soda in there for a while, that's supposed to absorb odor.

A solution with more effort is to somehow vaporize distilled white vinegar in the car. Maybe boil some on the stove then quickly move it to the car while it's still steaming. That's the only thing that would remove the curry smell when I first moved into my apartment. The vinegar smell goes away.

I agree with Redd. Spread baking soda and leave as long as possible. Follow up with a spray of 50/50 vinegar and distilled water. Scrub in, then vacuum up with wet/dry vac. If that doesn't work you may need to use or get someone to use a carpet extractor machine on the carpets, upholstry, and headliner.

Steam cleaning the whole interior may help.

I'm looking to buy a used car, Civic would do.

.... Will expect a substantial discount for funky smells.
