I am in the market for a preowned car with a budget of $13k or less. I have a long commute, so good gas mileage is a big factor. I have been looking at the Honda Civic and the Hyundai Elantra in the 2013-2014 range. Anyone have an opinion on either of those cars? It seems that the Hyundai runs several thousand dollars less than the Civic, so I don't know if it's worth it to pay more for the Honda brand. Any other car I should be looking at?

I bought a new Mazda 3 in 2013 for $17k. it was a great little car. I got 45mpg once on a 300 mile trip. one of those should be in your price range now.

What is definition of good gas mileage? A 4th gen Camaro or T/A could get 28 mpg

Civic coupe with manual transmission. 42 mpg (what I got in my '05) and will last forever as long as you change the oil and do regular maintenance.
