The two roll hoops look odd. Saving your passenger's life in a rollover is nice and all, but think about the aesthetics, man.

First, thanks for the response.

Second, I snapped a quick pic in a parking lot under the light and yeah, not my best work.

But I got my answer thanks to the power of Texags.

Am I the only one who immediately thought of Seinfeld when reading this comment?

"THESE PRETZELS ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY!"

I think it qualifies as a sports car.

British body with an American engine is not a prototypical of a muscle car. I'm pretty sure the Alpine Tiger is one too. Can't think of any other's except maybe the Chryslered Jensen.

Do you put the Rover/buick v8 on the American or English pile?

Let me ask you; A DeTomaso Pantera with a Ford Windsor, Italian or American?

How about a 1996 Lotus Elise with a Toyota engine, Japanese or British?

But the Rover V8 was a British redesign of a GM compact V8 rendered in all aluminum, right?

English pile, just like the same V8 powered Ginnetas.

I was just going to add the tr8, mg gt and some Morgans to your list of britsh bodies with American engines.

A friend of mine in England had that lotus elan...you poped the hood and the Isuzu branded manifold was staring back at you.

My neighbor has one of those Elan (M100). Though the prices are going up; t's generally reluctantly admitted or accepted as a Lotus by the snobs.

#1 it's front wheel drive (but has very good handling for a FWD, I'm told). #2 It's Isuzu engined, as you note.

That car was supposed to be Lotus' last gasp, it was the last forceful hand on Lotus by GM, it owned both Lotus and Isuzu at the time. GM bought Lotus, or controlling interest, when they designed the Corvette's ZR1 suspension.

The Elise brought it back from it's death bed.
