I've been away too long.

D&C - glad you are pleased with Steve. He is a talented mechanic and a good guy.

Jeff - congrats on the hundo.

CP is spot on regarding 40 ownership. I do miss my 40 on nice days, but my 60 is 100x more practical as a ****box side piece for my current needs.

A friend made this funny meme about Duggy's I thought I would share:

This thread needs a 6 day bump; so I'm here to report that since harvest has started I haven't had the chance to do much of anything on the 40. The engine is on stand ready for rear main seal and gasket set.

Earlier this summer, however, I was able to retrieve this 8274 I found on a FB listing out of state. It was near my daughter, & because she loves her Daddy she got some friends to scoop it up. After I got it home I bought a remote, converted it to the old style metal connector and function tested it. so far so good. If nothing else maybe I can just mount it and call the 40 an EV. The 40 is early 78 year production. The winch date code is just a few months later. Tickled with my find!

The ad had a couple pics of the winch but when I went to pick it from my Aggie it was protected under this heavy vintage cover with old school Warn logo. How cool is that?

Great find and a proper winch for a 40.

Why used? I don't own a 100 series, but I bet new are still available as they are for my 1995 80 series.

You can probably find new for close to the price of used from one of the discount parts sellers.

Landcruiser central in CS this evening. Left mass at St. Mary's to see a maroon 100 series parked near us, a 200 across the street at the Asian restaurant, and then this nice lifted 100 at George Bush and Texas.

My wife is getting really good at spotting 100s.

On vacation this week in New Mexico and took the truck out for a little run to overlook the Rio Grande. Hit a rainstorm on the way back and got nice and muddy!

Finally joined the club. Picked up a 99 LX 470 from a fellow Ag. Time to start dumping money into it! Although it's in pretty good shape I won't be able to leave it stock for long.

First oil change on my two hundy with the Jowett oil filter cap and EZ drain valves. That was a breeze.

Tried to do the oil galley plug fix on Marge the 60. The mud thread reads something like "...drilled a pilot hole in the plug and then grabbed the first coarse threaded screw hook I found in my random parts bin and threaded it into the plug until the plug popped out".

Sounded simple. Plug is soft and got a hole in it with the angle drill attachment just fine. The only coarse threaded screw of an appropriate size I had on hand was a sheetrock screw (bad idea). Screw went into the plug just fine and the plug actually broke friction and started to rotate slightly. So I pried a little bit on the screw and it just sheared off........

So now I have been spraying the plug with PB blaster daily while I wait for a friend to return from Solid Axle Summit to help extract this **** and get me out of this mess.

First upgrade, new wheels and tires. Next I'll be removing running boards and adding rock sliders.

We're about to pull the trigger on a used 2019 LX 570 w/ 48k miles. Any known problems or issues I should be looking out for?

We don't keep cars too long so not planning to put 200k miles on it or anything like that. If we got 3-4 years and 30-40k trouble free miles out of it we'd be happy and ready to move on to something else.

Pic for your troubles:

I just drive a 2000 100 series LC and I'm not sure of any specific for the 570. It's a Toyota so it'll be a sturdy and stable vehicle if you take care of it. but in 3-4 years please email me when you're ready to sell it cruiserhead2020@gmail.com

Made the deal today and picking it up tomorrow morning.

We had a 2006 LC we bought new but got rid of in 08 or 09 because of the crash. My wife always loved that car. Her Land Rover lease is coming due shortly and she suggested she wanted to get back into a LC which led us to this. If this goes as usual, she'll drive it for 2-3 years and then be ready to move on...then I'll pick it up and drive it for another year or two. I can't wait...we have a couple road trips planned this fall and this dude will be perfect.

This is totally stock. You're seeing the easy access feature bottom out the suspension travel when the key is turned off and those are stock wheels blacked out. The whole thing has been de-chromed and blacked out from the factory. I haven't done the research but I'm guessing it's some sort of special edition.

It does look like the pictures were taken with the suspension sets on it's lowest setting, usually listing crank it up to it's highest setting for the photos.

Looks great though, congrats on the purchase.

I need some help finding a used truck for a buddy of mine.

If anyone sees anything matching his description, please let me know.

Quote:

As most of you know from yesterday's post that I am headed home. I will be getting my FJ converted with hand controls if I ever get a response from any authorized dealers however, my FJ is built for offroad use and I will still get hand controls installed in her soon I hope but she is difficult to drive on the road everyday as she is not built for pavement and I'll do more damage to her in the long run.
What I am looking for as a daily driver is a 2003-2015 Lexus LX450 or LX570 or a 2003-2012 Toyota FJ100 Landcruiser or FJ200 Landcruiser.
If anyone sees one pop up please forward it to me. I'm not looking to drain my wallet as I have more than enough in medical bills to do that for me now. I'm looking for a decent daily driver SUV that is in good condition that won't break the bank. I may need some assistance of doing a walk thru and test drive for me or with me due to I'm currently in a wheelchair.
Thank you to all in advance, but I think my Toyota Trail Riders brothers and sisters may help out on this one a bit faster. But I'll take anything right now to get the ball rolling.
