My MIL is considering purchasing a 2011 Sierra XFE crew cab for about $23k (friend of the family). This thing only has 29,000 miles because he's an elderly gentleman who hasn't used it much. Looks like this is below KBB, and quick searches on TrueCar and Autotrader are making this look like a really good deal.

I don't know much about this series of GMC, though. Any known issues? It's got the 5.3 V8. I know there are a few recalls that need to be checked out regarding the rear axle and the steering. Anything else?

Isn't that just the standard SLE with aluminum cylinder blocks to shave weight, a few aerodynamic improvements, and the 3.08 towing axle?

Some other knick knacks too, (from the press release)

  • Soft tonneau cover (improves aerodynamics)
  • Extended front lower air dam (improves aerodynamics)
  • Lowered suspension and revised chassis tuning (improve aerodynamics)
  • Aluminum lower control arms (reduce mass)
  • Aluminum spare wheel (reduces mass)
  • Seventeen-inch aluminum wheels (reduce mass)
  • Automatic locking rear differential
  • Trailering package
  • Low rolling resistance tires
