The body work on my 47 ford pick up is finally almost done. Currently, the cab, fenders, grille, and hood are off the frame. The flat bed is welded to the frame, and the running boards will be welded to the flat bed, so they are essentially immobile.

Is it best to keep it all apart for painting? My initial thoughts are to leave it apart and paint each piece then assemble once done. However, with a metallic paint, is it important to have any sort of continuity? Meaning same/continuous pattern of spray? Also, if I do it this way I run a risk of damaging the parts during reassembly.

Also, I am trying to figure out the best method to paint the inside of the fenders, firewall, inside of hood and grille, and cab interior.

I guess I am going to have to go through the complete process twice. Once with the above mentioned areas and once with the bed, running boards, cab exterior, fender exterior, hood and grille exterior.

Or are there better ways to get this accomplished?
