Narrowly avoided a wreck (thanks for not strapping your couch down *******) this evening, braked hard enough to smoke tires, swerved, etc. Might have run over part of couch, not sure. Everything seemed fine until I made a low speed turn...much skidding.

I haven't engaged the locker in a month or two, certainly did not touch it today. Light is not on unless I pull the knob to engage the locker. It goes off when I push the knob back in but the locker does not disengage.

Any ideas what might have caused this or any easy fixes?

Sorry, I meant the light that indicates that the locker is engaged, not a random light that comes on.

Maybe the hub is just jammed. Could try hitting it with a rubber mallet, might have to take it off and free it up. I'm no expert though.

Edit: You talking about a front 4x4 locking hub?

No, not a front hub...my rear differential can be locked which spins both wheels at the same rate. Right now it is stuck that way.

I think they are electrically actuated. Try disconnecting the wire from the diff

Put it in reverse?

Did you forget to press the pound key?

Not bad place to start. OP, remove neg terminal cable and turn headlight switch to on. Wait 15-20 minutes and reconnect.
