Someone please explain swag and bob, no idea what that stuff means.
I'm going to go see it shortly at the tow yard. If I can get the hood open I will take some pictures.
Haha, so putting in a bike lane may actually make it more dangerous for bikers?Aston 91 said:
No idea if your car is totaled, but I recognize the location on Jolleyville Rd. in Austin. On a side note, wrecks will probably be more common in that area if the genius traffic planners here take out a traffic lane to expand the bike lanes like they have proposed doing.
I could go through either but chose to use Safeco because I have heard bad things about the other guys company, Geico. Safeco will collect from Geico.1agswitchin4lanes said:
Go after his insurance co.
Use auto trader, carmax, ebay for comps....
Auto policy is not a "replacement cost" policy, it is an "actual cash value" policy.sdc177 said:
Carmax produced 19 hits nationally for the exact same car as mine.
Average price is $16,761.53 with an average of 32,684 miles.
They are trying to give me $13,935 for mine with 36,5XX miles.
Which unfortunately is what most say because they don't understand that an auto/home/life insurance policy is a contract with specific provisions. Read your contract, discuss with your agent, be better informed.sdc177 said:

Not to say there isn't room for negotiation.
New option available from some carriers, typically only applies to new vehicles with limited miles.sts7049 said:
i think it was allstate that i saw advertising a full car replacement cost type of policy, but yeah that's generally not the norm unless stated.
If it costs $X to replace a car, isn't that the "actual cash value"? I always felt like if I lost a vehicle to a wreck, I deserved to receive enough money from insurance to buy another vehicle just like it, and be out $0 dollars, after tax, title, license and dealer mark up.Quote:
