If you didn't see it on my facespace last night some drunk pendejo slammed into my parked Jeep.

He ran, we chased, caught him once and then he got away. ****ing idiot came back to grab his stuff, we chased him again and he got away a second time.

We know his name though, he left his gym membership behind. ******* reported the truck stolen, but we have photos and a ton of witnesses.

This should be good.

So, the '05 Jeep has 209,000 miles on it. I can't gauge the level of damage, but she isn't worth much on the open market. The liftgate is toast, the side rear fenders do not have a crease from the impact and the rear doors are fine. But she took a big shot.

What was a very minor rear main leak is much worse and I have no idea what the structure looks like in the lift gate jam as the door is shoved in there pretty damn good.

Has my 10 years with Guzzler come to an end? And if someone could get me the address of pendejo #2 with the red Toyota Rav4 I would appreciate it.

If it weren't for the miles, I'd say no. Our Jeep WK has been hit three times in the rear and repaired each time. However, our '07 still has less than 100k on the clock.

I may not be, but it will be borderline.

Sorry this happened. It sucks when your car is taken and you don't get enough money to really buy another.

I wish the penalties for drunk driving were much harsher.

Technically, there's no frame. It's a unibody, but that's probably pedantic. It appears to still be straight. We'll have to see what it looks like when I pry the liftgate open.

SAPD + drunk driving + hit and run = a 1, 2, 3 combo of not getting anything done.

I'm getting it back, and I'm conflicted. A comfortable and gas efficient rental doesn't help any either. (loaded 300C)

That V6 and 8 speed combo is pretty nice.

That's before the amendments that drive the repairs up close to retail value.

His insurance company estimated $2,300 before tear down, so at least the two are consistent.

His 2013 Ford is a total loss.

I'd suspect the damage on both is by design. A lot more room from the bumper to the dash on the front of that truck to allow for a crumple zone to absorb some of the impact. If the rear of your jeep functioned the same way then I'd suspect it would not bode well for a passenger sitting in the back seat.

Have to get a body shop to inspect it to determine if the unibody is bent. I got rear ended in my wife's Flex and it was very similar damage to what you have. The unibody frame rail was bent, but they were able to fix it. Check the gaps on between the doors on each side of the car to see if they match up. It cost about $15K to repair hers.

Might look into dimished value claim, even with the higher mileage.

So, I'm trading in the 300C tomorrow for either a minivan or Tahoe for my New Orleans trip and I'm going to miss it a bit.

Over the last 600 miles or so it's reading 25mpg on average, which is good for such a large car. ( I'll double check the numbers when I fill up) And while the stated 0-60 isn't impressive it feels pretty decent in the seat.

Hmmm... maybe that engine/trans combo a Grand Cherokee wouldn't be too bad.

I think my biggest issue with the 300 is that it's the same design for the last 12 years.
