I'm toying with the idea of selling my beloved daily driver. The WRX is aging (10 y/o 120k) and I think it's time to get something a little more reliable. I love it and I love working on cars but having just had a baby my priorities are quickly changing and I'd rather spend time with my daughter than wrench/repair on the weekends.

Fun factor w/ manual transmission
Under $12k
Under 90k miles
4 doors min
Easy to DIY/maintain (when needed)

WANTS
Wagon/hatchback
Under 60k miles

NOT A CONCERN/PRIORITY
Gas mileage (short commute)

Sounds like you need an older Subey Outback or Forester.

If you need a little more go-fast, should be able to find a speed3 in that price range with your mileage/age/trans preference.

Speed3's aren't AWD though, right?

It's an option. I'm just in a situation where I'm mechanically savvy and can fix broken stuff but I don't have the time to do so. So I'm stuck with a 10 year-old turbo car that I beat on daily...

Don't need AWD. Fun but unnecessary in TX for stock power levels.

2nd gen Speed3 is the answer

Or you can go with a TL w/ SH-AWD or actually any flavor of Acura car

That's a bottom dollar car with no options. Base stereo, no steering wheel controls, and probably no multi-function display in the dash gauges. Still a hell of a deal on a veedub.

Just sold my2011 for $13k. Had 47k miles dsg and 4 doors. Also was a higher trim. That price is maybe a little low but there are plenty out there for buyers to choose from.

Funny that two days after a friend mentions those Jalop writes that article. It's a shame that Manuel Type-Ss command such a premium. $15k for an 08 with 75k miles.

That wouldn't be a bad choice. I still need to find a way to get a clean 06 TSX that's in the family over where I am. I think the only maintenance it's needed since new has been a clutch and A/C compressor.
