Does anyone have first hand experience with both? I don't go off-road much, and even then the bulk of it is on well worn ranch roads. The main points of comparison I'm curious about are: on road noise and ride, as well as tread life. The KO2s don't have a tread warranty vs. RTs with 50k mi.

Looking at reviews on the BFG site the RTs have mixed reviews with some people saying they are great at X then the next saying they are the worst at the same X. Maybe a quality control issue, or people just grinding axes. The KO2s have mostly positive reviews, my concern is how they ride on road (noise/comfort) and no warranty. Are the KO2s better at $200 more for the set?

Vehicle is a Silverado 1500 4x4 currently has the factory Goodyear Eagle LS2s (275/55R20) on it. They have been fine for closing on 50k mi, but I just noticed a small bulge in the sidewall near the bead, so going to replace them a few months early.

Other tire suggestions welcome, I'm not really looking for anything super-aggressive. Any recommendations for a reliable place to get an alignment in B/CS would also be appreciated. TIA

I have the KO2's on my F250 and love them. Quiet ride and seem to do ok in the sloppy stuff

I swapped my KM2s for KO2s recently since I wasn't getting offroad as often.Unfortunately, I've never run the Rugged Terrains so I can't help you there, but I did run the original KOs. Coming from my KM2s, there was a huge improvement in road noise and my ride feels a bit more "well mannered" on pavement. Compared to the original KOs, I get a lot less packing and traction loss in the mud. I'm happy with the tires so far, but only have a thousand miles on them.

KO2's are louder than the Rugged Trails but they are much more of an AT tire. If 99% of your driving is going to be on paved surfaces, stick with the Rugged Trails, unless you just want a true AT tire.

Ive been running 35x12.50 15 km2s ony discovery for the last 4 years. Tread life sucks, but fortunately the sidewall does too so they get replaced often

I just switched to KO2s 2 weeks ago in the same size. Much quieter, but they shake a lot on the highway. That may have more to do with discount tire half assing the balance. I doubt they have the equipment to balance a lug centric 5 on 6.5 wheel, but forgot to ask and haven't followed up on that yet.

I havent had them off road yet so cant comment on ability.

I've had both, but about 8-ish years apart. The Rugged Trials will deal with ranch roads just fine and I never had a problem with them when I stuck to either dry trails or the wet ranch roads.

The KOs give up some noise, which I don't find all that bad compared to the mud terrains that were on previously, and they give up some road manners. They wander a bit more than the Rugged Trails and I don't think deal with the rain as well. The KOs are very livable though. No regrets there. I think when people move to the next "level up" to a full AT they expect some trade-offs and are not so tough on the reviews.

Price is also another factor.

As suggested earlier the ATPs looked interesting as well.

My KO2s have 10K on them now and are as quiet as the day I bought them.

i have no personal experience with either but i did speak to one guy at discount in MoCity who said he thinks the Rugged Terrain is more a highway tire with an AT look, vs true AT performance.

I have KO2's and they are not loud and run smooth.
