My dashboard on my 2011 Tahoe is cracking, the f'n truck isn't even a year old.

Is this something I should take to Chevy and ***** until they fix it? I looked a the dash and it is going to be a lot of work to replace and I don't want to pay to replace it.

What do you think?

My 2010 Tahoe did the exact same thing. In the exact same spot. I haven't had it fixed yet, but it's still under warranty and I just need to take it in. Annoying indeed.

What causes something like that? The material in the close up picture looks very similar to that used in the 2003 4runner we used to have and it had multiple hairline cracks develop in it.

Hard plastic, probably stress on it there, and there is a seam or something underneath that creates a weak spot, so it gives there. It might be shrinking slightly as it ages, and they didn't account for that in the design.

If you wanted a cracked dash, you should have bought a dodge.

Dodge managed to figure out the dash years ago, so there's hope for Chevy.

I thought this was gonna be a dodge thread.

The dashes on my friend's trucks didn't have cracks. They had holes things would get lost inside.

hot/cold cycles causes cracks.

Look at the pavement and the same thing is happening to your dash.

I've been seeing that more and more lately. One of my employees got his replaced under warranty in his 2012 silverado.

Jk. That sucks. I sold my 08 at 36k because the warranty was up.

our 2008 Tahoe did the same thing, and our local chevy dealer replaced it under warrenty, no questions asked. the runners in the back of the tahoe where the third row seats slide on cracked also, and they replaced it also. however, that required the entire interior to be removed for the most part. final result was just fine though. like said above, use the warrenty, thats what it is for.

What are they doing different on these dashes now anyway? It seems like dashes were crap for the longest time, then got better for the most part and now this comes out.

So if getting new vehicle is not an option, and my warranty is out...whats the best option for a dash cover? Any thoughts?

Same here, exactly. No excuse for it to happen on a truck that new.

Carpeting, like this one has.
