A 5.3 is nothing but a stroked 4.8, same bore.

If you want cubes, acquire a LQ4/9 bore out to a 4.030 bore and stroker crank. 408 doesn't sound too bad does it?

More than just the cubes, an LQ4 or 9 is an iron block and can take sh/t tons of boost or spray.

Yes, it's heavier, but it's what a lot of guys that run LS engines switch to when they want to get totes ridic with the boost.

408 is pretty easy from the LS6. I want more

Im thinking 418-427

Further research tells me i need an lsx block to get more than 418 safely. So i guess that answers that.

And it looks like on the 5.3 you can only go to about 3.800-3.900 bore. So there goes that theory.

lq4/9 is where you have to go for cubes over 400ish

I'm doing the same swap to my '95. Did the motor bolt directly to the 4l60e?

Are you the same guy asking questions on YouTube?

Yes, the motor did mate with the LT style 4L60e. You'll need a crank spacer, flat flexplate (found on 6.0 from truck), and longer flexplate bolts.

From there, you'll need to elongate the TC bolt holes on the flexplate so that you can bolt the LS flexplate to the LT torque converter.

Having said all that, if you're building the truck to go fast, I'd upgrade to a LS style 4L60e since you'll have more stall options and they're slightly stronger.

I've blown two 4L60e's now, one of them technically being a built 4L65e. I'm saving to do a built 4L80e along with other goodies now.

No, that's not me. But I did see your videos and saw all the comments of people asking that specific question.

I was debating whether to order the monster kit for the stock 4l60e or biting the bullet and getting the 4l80e.

Thanks for the info though

If you stay N/A, I think a properly built 4L60/5e will handle just about whatever you throw at it.

If you plan on boost or nitrous, 4L80e is the way to go.

Any other details about racetruck's new tranny? When is expected delivery?

Builder rates it to 1000 horsepower, hopefully my last trans swap. All parts for swap won't be available till after Thanksgiving, I'm going so say it's 2-2.5 weeks out accounting for shipping.

I've been speaking with Circle D for a TC, looking at a 3200-3400 stall speed and a size of 9.5". With that stall speed, I won't be blowing through the converter too bad when on nitrous and since it's a 9.5" it should hit hard both N/A & on the juice when it's time to boogie.

Next build after trans swap will be the rear end. A 4.30 gear should be fun.

hey Silvy, do you want another project?

http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/5344074360.html

You could probably flip that with a junkyard engine swap, and fund other things.

As much as I'd love another project, I need to focus on #RACETRUCK.

If I were to pick up another project, it'd likely be a C10.

Pretty clean interior for a 20 yr old vehicle. I've been toying around with the idea of a project burb for a while. Anybody got ballpark #s for ls swapping that thing?
Silvy

Cost really depends on how much work you want to do and how fast you want go.

Find a good deal on your parts and you could be looking at $1,500-2,000 for a no frills swap.

Would be a beach rig so definitely no frills. Thanks for the #s.
