Is any of EO revenue due to affiliate style deals where they get a commission for a signup with some providers or is it all $10 a month subscriptions?
90% of Texans overpay...really? Because I didn't know that 90% of Texans even had a choice. Two of the last 3 places I've lived (Montgomery Country and Galveston County) didn't have any choice.2nd Generation Ag said:
I work for Energy Ogre and we don't touch your thermostat. We ask for your electricity usage profile off your smart meter to find the best electricity plan for your home. That data is in 15 min increments.
We run the electricity demand curve of your home (every home is different) against every electricity plan (supply curve) on the market and find the one that mathematically saves you the the most money. It's all done with technology.
There can be 500 -1500 electricity plans on the market at any given time.
Whether you like us or not we have saved consumers over 200 million dollars. That's not a bad thing. We started the company to help the consumer. 90% of Texans overpay. 55% overpay by 40%
Yep. I locked in at 9.5 cents a year or two ago. It wasn't the lowest cost, but it had the longest term, and I'd rather take a sure thing. These brokers don't use intuition or conservative principles - they just run computer models. Also, they don't have any insight into my family dynamics. Who's home from college, who's working from home during the summer...I don't need rates that change throughout the day.Sea Speed said:
Texas power agents is better than EO in my opinion and run by an Aggie. It also costs less.
But the best values right now are in 3 year contracts so it is probably smart to get rid of the service and just keep anneye on prices every month or so to see if prices have fallen enough to justify the cost of contract cancelation.
So, they can jack up your temperature by 4 degrees when you're not at home, even if you've already set it at 80. You come in and it's 84, and you spend and extra couple of hours getting your home back to comfortable. If you have a newer AC unit that's probably fine, but some older units will spend a long time playing catch up.Kenneth_2003 said:Space City Weather Post -- Smart Thermostat AccessQuote:At Reliant, our program is called Degrees of Difference and it rewards customers with a bill credit for the small changes they make to reduce their usage during designated events, which are communicated to customers in advance. Here's how it works: Customers with smart thermostats have the temperature automatically adjusted by no more than four degrees during these designated events, which last no more than four hours. However, customers always have ultimate control over the temperature in their homes and can override any adjustments.

Just got a 3yr with Constellation for 14.8c and a $99 cancellation. Basically just wait until prices come back in, cancel, and sign somewhere else eventually.

Apparently this is too difficult to understand for EO
I believe that they mean that once you're in a contract that EO put you in they don't cancel it or the algorithm they use doesn't account for cost savings by switching mid-contract even with a cancellation fee.Gene Stallings said:
I had EO advise me to cancel a contract when I first signed up, so that is not true. Depends on the length of your contract and what your cancellation fee is.
They put me in a 24-month contract on July 12.Jack Cheese said:Sea Speed said:Irish 2.0 said:

Yep. I suspect their dirty little secret is that they never cancel contracts, which is partially why they won't go beyond 12 months term.
