Now that the Astros own the Sugar Land Skeeters, they are doing a full rebranding of the team. New name and look will be shown on 1/29

Hate to lose the legacy and all the traditions of the Skeeters. What will I do with all this gear? Will it become collectible?

I hope it's The Sugar Land Oiler.

Don't pluralize it and maybe it can get past that turd in Tennessee.

Change name from Skeeters to Crickets. At least you will get a lot of first time visitors, even though they may not return. Also good opportunity for sponsorship from Cricket wireless.

I've always thought it would be fun if they were the 59s, leaning on the Colt .45s type branding. Though for marketing schemes and themes have it be highway related for 59, the lifeblood of Sugar Land!

Also bonus points, I believe Sugar Land was incorporated in 1959

I mean the city of Sugar Land was incorporated in 1959. Clarified my original post

Quote:

Beginning in the 19th century, the present-day Sugar Land area was home to a large sugar plantation situated in the fertile floodplain of the Brazos River. Following the consolidation of local plantations into Imperial Sugar Company in 1908, Sugar Land grew steadily as a company town and incorporated as a city in 1959. Since then, Sugar Land has grown rapidly alongside other edge cities around Houston, with large-scale development of master-planned communities contributing to population swells since the 1980s.

I'm guessing they'll snatch the name the Texans rejected and go with Apollos

Too bad the Rangers already have an "Express" because Sugarland Express works well because of the old 70's movie.
