Mine expired so it has been over 10 years since I have gone through the process.

Any recommendations?

Please no comments about the vaccine passport stuff...

Make appointment at nearest Post Office that offers Passport Services.
Download and complete paperwork prior to appointment.
Get pics done at Walgreens/CVS.
Show up at appointment. Unless there's a line, you'll probably be there only 10 minutes or so.
Wait to receive passport in mail.

I renewed a passport about 6 months ago and did the above process. I was told it would take 6 weeks to arrive and we got it in around 2-3 weeks.

Also, you can order your birth certificate online if you need to, then go pick it up at the Vital Records office near NRG. Super quick and easy.

If it has been less than 5 years since your passport expired, you shouldn't need a copy of your birth certificate.
